Natural Resource Management in Westonia
The Shire of Westonia is committed to sustainable land management. The priority issues for Natural Resource Management (NRM) within the shire are salinity, soil erosion, soil health, sustainable farm practices, and protection of natural resources.
Part of the role is working with the community, rural landholders, agencies, other local governments and Shire of Westonia staff and councillors in order to achieve these positive outcomes.
Our NRMO is currently working on a number of projects including:
- Submission of funding applications to address environmental issues
- Providing assistance to council and staff with NRM issues
- Providing support to related community groups
