Town Planning

In accordance with Regulation 12(3) the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015

At the ordinary Council meeting on the 21 February 2023 Council endorsed the Draft Local Planning strategy prepared by Shire officers and presented for Certification by the Western Australian Planning Commission. The Scheme Report was then forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) for consideration. On the 17 March 2023 the WAPC informing the Shire of its consistent with regulation 11(2) of  the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.

A copy of the proposed Local Planning Schemes may be inspected or obtained online, by visiting the Shire Website or at the Council Administration Office, 41 Wolfram Street, Westonia WA 6423 between the hours of 8.30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Submissions on the proposed local laws must be received by 4:00 pm on Monday 8th May 2023 and may be submitted:

  • By mail addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Westonia, PO Box 11, Westonia WA 6423.

The purpose of Councils consideration of three new Local Laws which will provide the opportunity to protect the amenity of the Westonia townsite and its streetscape in the absence of a Town Planning Scheme.

NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO MAKE A SHIPPING AND/OR SEA CONTAINER LOCAL LAW 2023

Pursuant to section 3.12(3) of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Westonia gives notice that it intends to make a new local law, the Shire of Westonia Shipping and/or Sea Container Local Law 2023

 

The purpose of this Local Law is to prescribe the approval process required for the placement of shipping and/or sea containers on residential, commercial and industrial land within the Westonia townsite.

 

The effect of this Local Law is to establish minimum requirements for the placement of shipping and/or sea containers on land within the Westonia townsite.

A copy of the proposed local law may be inspected or obtained online, by visiting the Shire Website or at the Council Administration Office, 41 Wolfram Street, Westonia WA 6423 between the hours of 8.30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO MAKE A FENCING LOCAL LAW 2023.

Pursuant to section 3.12(3) of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Westonia gives notice that it intends to make a new local law, the Shire of Westonia  Fencing Local Law 2023

The purpose of this local law is to prescribe a sufficient fence and the standard for the construction of fences throughout the district.

 The effect of this local law is to establish the minimum requirements for fencing within the district.

A copy of the proposed local law may be inspected or obtained online, by visiting the Shires Website or at the Council Administration Office, 41 Wolfram Street, Westonia WA 6423 between the hours of 8.30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO MAKE A WESTONIA HISTORICAL PRECINCT LOCAL LAW 2023

Pursuant to section 3.12(3) of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Westonia gives notice that it intends to make a new local law, the Shire Of Westonia Westonia Historical Precinct Local law 2023.

The purpose of this Local Law is to prescribe the design of development, including buildings and fencing, within the Westonia Historical Precinct.

The effect of this Local Law is to ensure the continuation of historical facades and fencing within the Westonia Historical Precinct
